Magnolia Lodging was born from a rich family history in the hospitality industry. Patriarchs Gresham and Sue Shinn built and operated hotels in Arkansas beginning in the 1940’s and soon expanded into Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana. Since 1982, G.J. Shinn has continued their legacy by owning, developing and managing award-winning hotels under the Hilton and Marriott brands.
In 1998, he formed Magnolia Lodging, LLC with partners Wayne Newton and Matthew Newton to manage his hotels at a high level of performance. Marked by exceptional service and numerous awards, Magnolia Lodging has been and continues to be well known for its unique style of leadership. In fact, in 2005, three of Magnolia Lodging’s Homewood Suites’ properties were ranked in the top 10 percent of the brand and received special recognition in the Homewood directory.
Magnolia Lodging currently has two hotels in operation and five hotels in the design and construction phase. Upcoming grand openings will include a 117-unit Homewood Suites by Hilton® in Frisco, Texas and a 125-unit Hilton Garden Inn® in Richardson, Texas.
